Anne Hathaway makes her own beauty products

Anne Hathaway likes to make her own beauty products in her free time.

The Les Miserables star, who is currently expecting her second child with husband Adam Shulman, makes a conscious effort to minimise her impact on the environment and, in a bid to reduce the amount of waste she contributes to the planet, she creates her own formulas and buys ingredients in eco-friendly containers.

"I make my own products whenever possible (I try to buy the initial ingredients in non-plastic containers, which is harder than it should be) and store them in glass or biodegradable materials. Right now, I'm planning to make my own body shimmer," she told Allure magazine, adding that the recent ingredients she has purchased include beeswax pellets, cocoa butter, and mica powder.

However, the 36-year-old still likes to splurge every once in a while, and her most expensive beauty buy of late has been a Japanese infrared-light face wand.

She also treats herself to Chantecaille's Gold Energizing Eye Recovery Mask, which cost $195 (£160) for eight sets of under-eye masks, and while she acknowledges they're "so expensive", she insists they're "truly, deeply brilliant".

Her other purchases include CBD pills, which she picked up in Amsterdam, Bumble and bumble's Surf Spray, as well as Actinica Lotion sunscreen.

Elsewhere in the beauty chat, Hathaway confessed her biggest skin concerns were dryness, redness, and crow's feet, and her biggest beauty regret was wearing a "brown Wet n Wild lip pencil with white lipstick because it's what the seniors were doing."

In terms of her onscreen looks, the brunette beauty loved having bangs to play Andy Sachs in The Devil Wear Prada and wishes she could have her character Maggie's hair from Love & Other Drugs.
