We have loved Anne of Green Gables since we were kids, and now a new movie is coming to TV this Thanksgiving — and we couldn’t be more grateful. (Yep, pun intended.)

The TV movie, a new adaptation of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables, will air on PBS and be based on the first book in the series, according to Good Housekeeping.

Of course, we don’t need to tell you what Anne of Green Gables is about, but just in case, it follows Anne, an orphan who is sent to live with a sister-and-brother pair, Marilla Cuthbert (who’s pretty strict) and Matthew Cuthbert (who’s more fun-loving).

Martin Sheen will play Matthew, while Sara Botsford will be Marilla. Newcomer Ella Ballentine, 13, will play Anne.

We. Can’t. Wait.

“The story and Anne character have become a staple of childhood innocence and inspiration,” Michael Kelley, senior VP of programming and business affairs at PBS, said in a statement, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “Breakthrough’s revival of this globally recognized literary story has delighted so many viewers in Canada and around the world and we are glad to secure this film for broadcast on PBS.”

We could not agree more.

BTW, the 1908 novel has sold 50 million copies worldwide, so we can see the appeal of it coming to a TV screen near us. (Another version will also debut on Netflix next year!)

The PBS one will air on Thanksgiving at 8/7c, just as you’re probably finishing your second helping of turkey or pumpkin pie. Perfect.
