Anna Wintour had to wear hat for 'several months' after hairstyle fail

Anna Wintour once had to wear a hat for "several months" after she tried to change her hairstyle.

The London-born journalist, who has been editor-in-chief of U.S. Vogue since 1988, is known for her trademark pageboy bob haircut and dark sunglasses.

But in a new interview with Rihanna for Vogue's Go Ask Anna video series, the superstar asked the editor whether she would ever consider opting for a different haircut.

"I've had many hairdressers over the years, and I can't remember how long I've had this haircut for," replied Wintour. "The one time I tried to change it, it was a disaster. I had to wear a hat for several months. So, I'm way to anxious... and lazy... to try it again."

Elsewhere in the chat, Rihanna asked Wintour whether she was missed by the crowd at the camp-themed 2019 Met Gala in May, to which the 69-year-old insisted: "The whole world missed you."

She then went on to comment that the singer had promised to attend the 2020 Met Gala, and also pinpointed some of her favourite looks from past events.

"(When) you wore that amazing Margiela look (to the 2018 Met Gala) that was completely hand encrusted with pearls. That was definitely one of my favourites," she smiled. "Then of course, the year of China: Through the Looking Glass, you wore that amazing (Guo Pei) outfit, which means that the world will never look at yellow in the same way again."
