Anja Rubik has posed nude in a risque photoshoot for Saint Laurent.
The Polish model bares her naked body in a series of shots taken by Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki, who was tapped by the brand's creative director Anthony Vaccarello for the project.
While Rubik herself is in black and white, the pictures are given a splash of colour with vivid shades of what appears to be paint smeared over them.
In one image, the 34-year-old star poses topless in a pair of dark trousers with the zips undone, and in another picture, she kneels down with nothing covering her body aside from rope hanging from her neck and knee-high shiny black boots on her feet.
"I've always loved the side of Araki that's extremely free," Vaccarello told W magazine. "He's not working out of oppression or concern for how others see him. He does what he wants, and there's poetry in that freedom. Monsieur Saint Laurent never explicitly looked to shock either. He just worked in the context of a bland, bourgeois, and uniform society."
Recalling the moment that he requested to work with Araki during a trip to Tokyo earlier this year (17), he added, "I told myself it was now or never to work with him. He was really enthusiastic. It all came together very quickly."
It was a closed set, with only Rubik, Vaccarello, Araki and his assistant present. Although the lensman doesn't speak English, that didn't stop the photoshoot from being a "unique" experience, with the designer noting that Araki is "actually really funny".
Vaccarello is pleased with the imagery too, especially as he believes it reflects his brand's reputation.
"People often refer to the 'sexiness' of my work. I don't like labels. Saint Laurent was very sexy in his day as well, but always with sensuality. For me, it's above all about freedom, movement, and attitude. That's what I like," the 35-year-old added.
