Ang Lee to be awarded IBC's highest accolade

25 Aug - It was revealed that Taiwanese filmmaker Ang Lee will be awarded the International Broadcasting Convention's highest accolade – the International Honor for Excellence at the IBC Awards.

As reported on Hollywood Reporter, the visionary director, who is set to promote his upcoming film "Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk", will be making his appearance at the ceremony on 11 September in Amsterdam to receive the recognition.

According to IBC CEO Michael Crimp, Lee is the most appropriate winner for the award, which is given to "an individual who has made a significant and valuable contribution to the industry, combining technology and creativity to achieve remarkable ends", since he is a director who has "harnessed technology in the service of great storytelling."

His new movie, starring newcomer Joe Alwyn and actress Kristen Stewart, was filmed in an unprecedented 4K, at a high frame rate of 120 frames per second.

Lee stated that he is delighted and honoured to receive the award from such a prestigious organisation such as IBC, which has previously awarded other visionaries such as James Cameron, Peter Jackson and Sir David Attenborough.
