Andy Chen apologises for poor hosting job at Taylor Swift's gig

13 Nov – Andy Chen recently released an apology following the backlash over his alleged improper behaviour towards American singer Taylor Swift at an event recently.

As reported on Tencent, the issue sparked on 11 November, when Andy, who was hosting Swift's fan meeting in Guangzhou following the singer's performance at a shopping festival concert, was accused of engaging in unnecessary physical contact and was unable to communicate well with the singer due to his poor English.

In a statement released on Weibo, the actor expressed, "During yesterday's event, in order to ensure the smooth progress of the process, in the interaction on the stage and in considerations of Taylor's safety, if there is physical contact that had offended Taylor, here I would like to apologise to Taylor and her fans."

"I am sorry if I was not cautious enough, not meticulous and not gentleman-like. I will pay more attention later," he added.

Andy also stressed that he would continue to improve himself as a host and apologised again for not being able to fulfil everybody's wishes.

Despite the backlash and his subsequent apology, many of Andy's fans came to his defense - sharing photos taken from a different angle that clearly showed that the actor was not touching Swift inappropriately like it was alleged.
