Andi Eigenmann on what she means by "leaving showbiz"

The actress says she wants to be a working actress, not a showbiz star

16 Oct - A week after it was reported that Andi Eigenmann is quitting showbiz, the actress recently clarified the issue through an interview with CNN Philippines.

The actress, who mentioned quitting showbiz in a comment responding to a rude fan, stated that she was only defending herself from the allegations made by someone that she was arrogant for not wanting to take a picture with a fan.

However, Eigenmann said that she is not quitting the film industry anytime soon, only the showbiz persona.

"I was born into the film industry and acting and filmmaking is something that I'll always be passionate about. It's just that I feel that I grew out of that whole showbiz stigma, I don't want to force myself to be perceived as a person [who] I'm really not," she said.

Eigenmann added that she just wanted to be known for her work as an actor, and not as a star.

"I don't want to inspire based on the way that I look [or] because I want to pretend that I'm the next Mother Teresa. I want to inspire based on what I can do. I don't want to just entertain people. I'm not here because I want to become rich. I don't need that. I'm in this industry because I want to be able to share, to express myself through art, and allow people's hearts to be touched by what we do, as filmmakers," she said.
