Amerul Affendi wants to play a gentleman for his next role.

26 Aug – Actor Amerul Affendi is not upset that a pivotal scene involving him and actress Sharifah Amani got cut by the Malaysian Censorship Board (LPF) from his latest film, "Pekak".

"I admit that the shoot for the cut scene; a rape scene; took a long time to shoot, but honestly I am not upset that it got cut as upon viewing the film I believe that it doesn't affect the scene at all and the message that the scene wants to deliver," he told Cinema Online when met the premiere of "Pekak" at mm2 Cineplex, eCurve recently.

On his role as Azman Picaso, Amerul says that his character is a troubled teenager who doesn't have parents, therefore he has lost his way and is up to no good.

When asked who he had based his character upon, Amerul said that he referred to the internet a lot for drug related research.

He was also glad that director Khairul Azri chose to portray the true trials and tribulations of being a drug addict as it can educate the masses on how drug addiction can ruins lives.

"I feel that a lot of people are still in the dark when it comes to drug abuse. This film can serve as a guide for parents to keep a closer eye on their kids."

Amerul also said that he would like to play the role of a gentleman next as he has already played many antagonist roles.

Coming to cinemas this 1 September 2016, "Pekak" also stars Zahiril Adzim, Sharifah Sakinah and Iedil Putra.
