American Film Festival Announces 2016 Screening Lineup
The 7th annual American Film Festival in Wrocław, Poland, has announced the lineup for its 2016 festival.
Of the 100-plus films that are scheduled to screen at this year’s festival, 58 are Polish premieres and 6 are European premiere. The festival opens with the Polish premiere of Jim Jarmusch’s “Patterson” on Oct. 25, and will conclude with Tom Ford’s highly-anticipated “Nocturnal Animals” on Oct. 30.
The festival will also feature films that received much attention at the Cannes, Sundance, Venice and Toronto festivals, including this year’s Cannes Jury Prize winner “American Honey“ by director Andrea Arnold, “Personal Shopper” by Olivier Assayas, “Moonlight” by Barry Jenkins, “Loving” by Jeff Nichols and “Swiss Army Man” by Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan, among others.
The American Film Festival also announced two premiere competition sections, Spectrum, focusing on contemporary American cinema (14 films in competition), and American Docs, featuring documentaries showing various faces of America (10 films). In addition, audience awards will go to films competing in two categories, feature and documentary. The awards in both competitions are sponsored by BNY Mellon, while the special prize is provided by cable station Ale kino+.
The 2016 American Film Festival runs Oct. 25-30.
