American Crime Books Regina King for North Carolina-Set Season 3

Though American Crime will have (as always) a new setting, new characters and a new plot in its upcoming third season, one thing will remain blessedly the same: ABC’s anthology series will star Regina King, our sister site Deadline reports.

“We could not be more excited to welcome Regina back for a third season,” creator John Ridley said in a statement to the website. “She is among the talent who have quickly become intimately associated with the program.

“As with the first two seasons, her many fans can expect a total transformation,” he added, “as she plays one of the complicated individuals caught up in a story that deals with labor issues, economic divides and individual rights in this season’s setting of North Carolina.” (In spite of the designated locale, the show will shoot in Los Angeles, where production has been moved from Texas.)

Thus far, only King — an Emmy winner for Season 1 — has signed on for Season 3. However, American Crime regulars Felicity Huffman and Timothy Hutton are also expected to return in new roles.
