Clothing brands Gap and Banana Republic have announced on their respective Facebook pages this week that they will be saying goodbye to Singapore.

According to a Channel NewsAsia report on Wednesday (14 Feb), FJ Benjamin, the company responsible for bringing both American brands to the country, said that they will be closing the remaining two Banana Republic and three Gap stores in Singapore by the end of this month following a decision not to renew the franchise, which expires on 28 February.

The homegrown fashion retailer first announced the brands’ entry to Singapore in 2006, stating in a press release that it planned to open 30 stores here and Malaysia by 2010.

Banana Republic stores in Singapore are currently located at Paragon and the Shoppes mall at Marina Bay Sands. The Gap stores are located at VivoCity, Suntec City and United Square.
