American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and Qatar Airways emerged big winners at the 2020 APEX Official Airline Rating awards, as voted by more than 500,000 passengers around the world.
At an awards ceremony held in Los Angeles this week, winners were announced in four categories: global, major, regional and low-cost airlines.
APEX stands for Airline Passenger Experience Association.
The results are based on evaluations from half a million flyers around the world, who rated their overall flight experience based on five subcategories: seat comfort, cabin service, food and beverage, entertainment, and Wi-Fi.
Results were collected between July 1, 2018 and June 30, 2019 for more than one million flights, and 600 airlines.
Overall, 20 global airlines and seven low-cost carriers were awarded top marks in their categories.
Qatar Airways emerged one of the stand-out winners this year, scooping up three awards: best seat comfort; best cabin service and best food and beverage.
American Airlines and Delta Air Lines were the only US carriers to receive five out of five stars.
