AMC’s Horror Streaming Service Shudder Acquires First Exclusive Series (EXCLUSIVE)
Shudder, AMC Networks’ digital streaming service for horror fans, has acquired its first exclusive series: French supernatural mini-series “Beyond the Walls” will premiere exclusively on Shudder later this year, the service announced Wednesday.
“We could not be more proud to present ‘Beyond the Walls’ to our members this fall,” said Shudder GM Linda Pan in a statement. “We plan to continue to premiere new high-quality films and series on Shudder – and ‘Beyond the Walls’ is an excellent example of thrilling genre programming made exclusively available to the Shudder community.”
“Beyond the Walls” is being described as a supernatural thriller about a woman who inherits a house, only to discover that there is a parallel world hiding behind the house’s walls. It’s starring Veerle Baetens and Geraldine Chaplin, and has been created by Hervé Hadmar and Marc Herpoux. The show has been produced by Lincoln TV, and is being distributed by Newen Distribution.
AMC Networks started beta-testing Shudder last summer. The service, which is available on the web as well as on mobile and connected devices, charges consumers $4.99 per month for access to a library of over 400 titles.
Shudder is not AMC’s first foray into the world of paid streaming: The company has also been operating the SundanceNow Doc Club as a curated indie movie streaming service for around two years.
