SINGAPORE — The last movie that Aloysius Pang was filming will be released this year, three years after his death.
Dasmond Koh, the founder of Pang's artiste management agency NoonTalk Media, told Lianhe Zaobao that he did not wish to give up on Pang's work at the time of his death and hoped to honour Pang by completing the movie.
"Before Aloysius died, he had already shot part of the movie in Thailand," said Koh. "The original plan was for him to return to Singapore after his military training in New Zealand, shoot a television drama, then take another week to return to Thailand to finish filming the movie."
Production of the movie had been put on hold in 2019 after the 28-year-old actor died from injuries sustained during a Singapore Armed Forces training exercise in New Zealand. The movie had recently resumed shooting again.
The film, whose title and details have not been released thus far, had featured Pang as a character who encounters supernatural occurrences.
It's unclear how the script will deal with Pang's death.
Koh said NoonTalk Media had invested in the movie, but a Thai director was making the film.
NoonTalk artistes Xu Bin and Damien Teo are starring in the movie and are currently filming in Thailand.
South Korean singer Bae Jin-young, a member of boy band CIX and former Wanna One member, also stars in the film in his screen debut.
Koh said the international production would feature the English, Mandarin and Korean languages.
The late Pang, a reservist armament technician from the 268th Battalion Singapore Artillery, had been participating in a live-firing exercise in New Zealand on 19 January 2019 when he suffered crush injuries while carrying out maintenance works on an artillery vehicle. He later died from his injuries in a hospital there.
