The Alkaff Mansion brings Spain to you with its Cordoba Patio Festival, featuring gorgeous floral-themed dishes and cocktails

There’s no need to travel to Spain, because The Alkaff Mansion is bringing Spain to you. For the month of May, The Alkaff Mansion is celebrating Spain’s historic Cordoba Festival with its limited floral-themed food, cocktails and decorations.

The Cordoba Festival, known locally in Spain as Fiesta de los Patios, is celebrated in the town of Cordoba, where residents adorn their patios and balconies with flowers. In tandem with the festival, The Alkaff Mansion has decked out its buildings with a variety of cascading blooms, including geraniums and carnations.

The Alkaff Mansion’s three dining establishments, the Wildseed Cafe, UNA and TXA Gastrobar, will be serving exclusive menu items in the month of May as part of their Cordoba Patio Festival.

Afternoon diners can enjoy the stunning floral-themed Blooming Cocktail (S$18++) at the Wildseed Cafe, made with gin, elderflower, triple sec, grapefruit and grenadine. I found this cocktail to be fruity and refreshing, and I shamelessly guzzled the entire glass in under two minutes.

Start your dining experience with the amuse-bouche, Salmorejo, consisting of crispy herb bread sticks and a small chilled glass of grilled tomato soup.

The starter dish, the Ceviche De Vieira, features scallop ceviche with pickled cucumber, roma tomato, shallot, parsley and sherry vinegar. The dish was zesty and tangy, and wasn’t overly fishy in taste, which I liked.

I was especially excited for the appetiser, Escabeche De Setas Con Huevo, a stunning dish made of confit mushroom, a slow-cooked egg, potato foam, black tuber melanosporum and truffle oil.

With its beautifully cooked runny egg, light and flavourful potato foam and fantastic combination of a variety of savoury flavours, this was my favourite dish of the night.

Next, enjoy the Sopa De Foie Gras, an extremely rich and creamy foie gras soup with an almond & pistachio biscotti. I was surprised by the strong, smokey taste that this soup had, though it did get a little jelak after a while due to its richness.

The main dish, Wagyu A La Parrilla, features a char-grilled wagyu striploin with a side of paprika cauliflower and padron peppers. The striploin was tender and flavourful, while the cauliflower and peppers were roasted perfectly.

End your meal with the Churros Con Azucar De Canela, which did not disappoint either. The churros, which were crispy on the outside yet soft and slightly chewy on the inside, were dusted with a light sprinkle of cinnamon sugar and served with a rich dark chocolate sauce.

Despite feeling full from all the previous dishes, I still managed to devour the incredible churros, along with the luscious, intense dark chocolate sauce.

If a full five course meal is a bit too much for you, TXA Gastrobar offers a lighter alternative with its Floral Cocktail Flight and Tapas set menu (S$48++).

The set comes with the Escabeche De Setas Con Huevo tapas in a bigger portion than the one on UNA’s menu, and features three gorgeous floral-themed cocktails: Rubi Del Nilo, Pearl De Flores and Blue Waffle. Each cocktail was light and refreshing, and the golden-coloured Pearl De Flores stood out to me with its light honey tones and fruitiness.

Though I haven’t been able to travel overseas in over two years, The Alkaff Mansion certainly transported me to Spain during my visit.

The Alkaff Mansion’s Cordoba Patio Festival will be ongoing until 31 May 2022. Be sure to catch the Instagram-worthy floral decorations adorning the historical houses, and enjoy food and drinks from their current exclusive menus while you can.
