In a world where some celeb couples put it all out there, some couples remain a little more private about their romance, and one couple who is *super* private about their relationship is Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender. Though they don’t hide their love, they also don’t share much via social media or give us the inside scoop very often.
The couple opened up to Entertainment Weekly about why they keep things private.
Fassbender explained, “Each to their own. I’m not going to talk about my private life with a total stranger, unless I feel like I need to. Why would I? I don’t.”
“Things have changed with social media and technology,” Vikander said. “But I still feel it helps when I know less about the actors I look up to. That’s what I mean — I love the mystery behind it all.”
For the couple, it seems both have a lot to do with authenticity, and keeping their own lives from people they don’t know. It definitely makes sense, so who can blame ’em?
“I might have been curious about actors’ lives when I was growing up. That’s human nature. We’re all curious about a lot of things,” Fassbender said. “But my curiosity didn’t obligate them to tell me. It’s the worst thing if you’re sitting there in the theater, going, “Oh, that’s the guy who dates this person and likes to do this in the morning and that in the afternoon.” Then you’re just watching a brand, as opposed to an actor.”
TBH, we kinda love this. While we often feel like we know everything about our fave celebs, we really never know when they’re performing, and when they’re being themselves. At least we know that what we get from Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender is legit, even if it’s next to nothing. Plus, it’s totally their right to keep their lives as their own. They may be in the spotlight, but that doesn’t mean they owe us their every habit!
