Alden Richards is the anti-COVID-19 ambassador

14 Jul – Alden Richards has recently been named the ambassador of the Philippine government and USAID's national COVID-19 communication campaign, also known as BIDA Champion.

As reported on GMA News, the campaign, which is a collaborative effort among many agencies including Department of Health, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and National Task Force on COVID-19, aims to promote the practice of preventive healthy measures including the use of face mask and disinfectants.

According to USAID's official Facebook page, "A multi-media communication campaign, 'BIDA' promotes preventive healthy behaviours that people need to practice as we rise above the pandemic. #BIDASolusyon."

The word BIDA itself is an acrostic for Bawal ang walang mask (always wear a mask), I-sanitize ang mga kamay or iwas hawak sa mga bagay (always clean your hands or avoid touching objects), Dumistansya ng isang metro (maintain one meter distance), Alamin ang totoo impormasyon (arm yourself with the right information).
