Alcon Acquires Feature Film Pitch ‘Besties’ From ‘Lucifer’ Co-EP

EXCLUSIVE: Alcon Entertainment has acquired rights to Besties, a comedic thriller pitch from Sheri Elwood, who is currently co-executive producer of Fox’s Lucifer. Madhouse Entertainment, which reps Elwood, will produce the feature film project.

The plot centers on a young woman, left high and dry by her former bestie, who finds the perfect new roommate and quickly becomes her new best friend. But the new bestie neglects to reveal one big detail about herself: she is a dangerous psychopath.

It’s the second spec with the title Besties that has landed this month: DreamWorks and Montecito Pictures earlier beat out two other studios for Cassie Daniels and Mark Bartosic’s spec, a female ensemble road trip comedy.

In addition to Lucifer, Elwood also is writing a one-hour pilot based on Meg Mitchell Moore’s novel The Admissions for eOne. She previously teamed with eOne to create the Canadian TV series Call Me Fitz starring Jason Priestley, which ran four seasons from 2010-2013.
