The Air Jordan 5 Will Get a Luxurious Start to 2025 — But You May Not Be Able to Wear It

After debuting in a new but instantly familiar “Reverse Metallic” colorway just days ago, the Air Jordan 5 will get a second brand-new colorway in as many months playing with the look of precious metals.

The Air Jordan 5 “Earth/Metallic Gold” will shine as it releases a women’s-exclusive in January. Its look suggests finding gold at the source, as a deep brown “Earth” midsole hosts gold shark teeth inspired by the P-51 Mustang fighter plane from World War 2. A gold leather tongue also takes on a metallic sheen, while the upper is rendered almost entirely in white leather with “Earth” hits including the “23” and Jumpman marks and top-most eyestays. The lace toggle also appears in translucent “Earth,” which almost gives it the appearance of tortoiseshell plastic.

2025 is shaping up to be a big year for the Air Jordan 5 in celebration of its 35th anniversary, as Awake NY will take on the model for its first Air Jordan collaboration following its two takes on the Air Ship. Michael Jordan’s original “Fire Red’ Air Jordan 5 with a black tongue will get a retro release for only the third time when it drops in the fall, and another original colorway in “Black Metallic” will get a “Remastered” treatment. In between those two releases, the beloved Air Jordan 5 “Grape” popularized by “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” will return in the summer with its original details recreated for the first time.

There’s also a good chance some surprises are still in store for the year ahead, as the Air Jordan 5 is one of the most popular of all the Air Jordans.

The Air Jordan 5 Women’s “Earth/Metallic Gold” will release January 22 through the Snkrs app and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $200.
