4 Feb – After previously submitting an application to compete in the Miss Universe Philippines pageant, beauty queen Ahtisa Manalo is now saying that she has decided to forgo the competition.
As reported on Push, Ahtisa, who is also the first runner-up of the Miss International 2018, shared this news in a series of Instagram Stories, saying that she has decided to focus on her health first.
"I was hoping that I'll be able to join this year; but after considering the opinion of everyone important in my life, we decided it's be best for me not to push through," she added.
Manalo stressed that she would love to compete, but that her health situation will not enable her to get involved in such draining tasks.
"For now, I am gonna work on getting back to my [100 percent] and continue hoping to step on the Miss Universe stage one day," she added.
Although Manalo will not be competing in the first ever Miss Universe Philippines pageant, it is noted that many Binibining Pilipinas alumni are going to do it, including Binibining Pilipinas 2018 Top 15 finalist Sandra Lemonon, Binibining Pilipinas 2019 Top 15 finalist Maria Isabela Galeria, and Miss Globe 2018 Top 15 finalist Michele Gumabao.
