Adam Driver Is Your Friendly Neighborhood Bus Driver-Slash-Poet in First Trailer for 'Paterson' (Exclusive)

It’s Jim Jarmusch Week on Yahoo Movies.

Yesterday, we brought you the exclusive first look at the filmmaker’s Stooges/Iggy Pop documentary, Gimme Danger. Today you can check out the trailer premiere for his critically acclaimed new drama, Paterson (watch above).

Paterson stars Adam Driver (Girls, The Force Awakens) as Paterson, a bus driver with poetic aspirations in blue-collar Paterson, New Jersey.

That’s a lot of Patersons, yes, but it’s also probably the only unsubtle aspect of the quietly affecting drama that feels very much in the same vein as Jarmusch’s 2005 Bill Murray vehicle, Broken Flowers.

The man Paterson is an introspective observer who glides through a relatively uneventful existence while finding simple joys in the artistic ambitions of his winsome girlfriend (Golshifteh Farahani) and nightly stops at his neighborhood watering hole.

Paterson premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May, where Yahoo Movies managing editor Kerrie Mitchell called it “lovely in its simplicity, its big-heartedness, and its willingness to find the universe in the mundane details of one man’s days.”

The film opens Dec. 28.

Sadly, we don’t have any other Jim Jarmusch trailer premieres to offer this week, but we do suggest you go watch (or rewatch) — his vignette with RZA, GZA, and Bill Murray in Coffee and Cigarettes ASAP.
