Ada Choi: Zoe's birth cured me of inflammatory disease

11 Aug – Ada Choi recently revealed that eldest daughter Zoe has indirectly cured her of her incurable disease.

As reported on Mingpao, the actress who joined the fourth season of the mainland reality show, "Viva La Romance", recently revealed on the programme that she was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylopathy in the past, an inflammatory condition in which over time, can cause some of the small bones in one's spine to fuse.

"I was desperate at the time. I can't bend over and it was hard for me to breathe. The doctor said that it was incurable, and it would get worse to a point that you can't move at all and you have to stand up to sleep," she said.

Ada also revealed that the doctor told her that the disease would affect her ability to get pregnant, and it broke her even more as she was just four months into her marriage with Max Zhang at the time.

"I didn't know what to say. My husband asked the doctor how to treat it and the doctor said that happiness is the best medicine, so I told my husband that we should just be happy because we won't ever know what tomorrow brings," she said.

When she was pregnant with daughter Zoe two years later, Ada said that her body had actually stopped hurting instead of getting worse. She was later told by the gynaecologist that her daughter had possibly absorbed her calcium while in the womb.

The actress is now a mother of three children.
