Veteran Singaporean actress Zoe Tay recently marked her 30th anniversary in show business – and she celebrated with a sweet treat.

The Queen of Caldecott Hill posted online a picture of macarons nestled among roses last Wednesday (11 April), writing in Chinese, “Today marks the day I signed on and joined the industry 30 years ago. This date always gives me a special feeling. I am grateful for having all of your support throughout my journey.”

The confections had letters on them spelling out the thespian’s name, with one saying, “Thank you.” It wasn’t clear who the gift of baked goods was from.

Fellow veteran actress Huang Biren congratulated Tay on her own Instagram account, saying, “Congratulations my dear friend Zoe Tay on your 30 years of success! Wishing you many more fabulous decades!”

Tay, who turned 50 in January, started off as a model when she was only 16, and was offered a contract with the then-Singapore Broadcasting Corporation (now known as Mediacorp) after winning the first Star Search talent competition in 1988.

She won her first Best Actress award at the Star Awards in 1996 for her role in local TV programme “The Golden Pillow”, and a second one 21 years later, for her role in “You Can Be An Angel 2”.
