Singaporean comedian and actor Mark Lee and his family are thankful for the public’s show of support following their appeal for advice made regarding his five-year-old daughter’s rare autoimmune disorder.

A flood of well-wishes for Lee’s youngest child, Calynn, poured in after his wife Catherine Ng set up a Facebook page called “Cheers for Calynn Lee” on Monday (6 August).

Writing in Chinese, Ng said in a post that Calynn had glomerulonephritis, a condition that resulted from an overactive immune system attacking one’s kidneys.

“We hope that families with children with the same disease can contact us to help us understand the condition and better take care of her,” said Ng.

Lee told entertainment news site Toggle that they found out about Calynn’s disease in May after she came down with a high fever and hospital tests detected white blood cells in her urine.

He also said doctors told them that it was rare for the disease to target the kidneys, and that full recovery for Calynn might take months or even years.

Calynn, who has a 10-year-old sister, Calista, and a seven-year-old brother Marksonn, began her first round of treatment last week.

Netizens and well-wishers have posted over 10,000 comments in reply to Ng’s post, with many expressing hope that Calynn will get well soon.

The family made another post on Tuesday saying that some had shared about their own medical cases and also thanked the public for their support.
