Arnie's back in the action-packed new trailer for 'Terminator: Dark Fate'

The new trailer for Terminator: Dark Fate isn't messing around, pitting all that humankind has got against a new hi-tech threat from the future.

And while Linda Hamilton's Sarah Connor and Mackenzie Davis's 'enhanced human' Grace are truly failing to hit it off, there's not much time for squabbling, as Gabriel Luna's Rev-9 model terminator is making a beeline for his target, Natalia Reyes' Dani Ramos.

Pleasingly, the plot still remains vague (maybe they learned a valuable lesson from revealing major plot points in the trailers for Terminator Genisys), with plenty of questions still to be asked.

Like who is Dani, and why is she being hunted? What's her link to Sarah Connor? Where's Skynet? And what's Arnie's T-800 got to do with all this?

James Cameron has come back on board as producer for this sixth instalment in the sci-fi franchise, disregarding every plot since his Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and with Deadpool's Tim Miller in the director's chair.

And it appears that if this one goes well, it will form the first movie in a potential three-movie arc.

Cameron, who's somehow fitted in consultant duties while making his multiple Avatar sequels in New Zealand, told Deadline: “We rolled up our sleeves and started to break out the story and when we got a handle on something we looked at it as a three-film arc, so there is a greater story there to be told.

“If we get fortunate enough to make some money with Dark Fate we know exactly where we can go with the subsequent films.”
