From Redbook

There is no better time to have fun with your manicure than New Year's Eve. It's the one night where everyone trades in their usual solid lacquer for something with a little more pizazz. Plus, entering a new decade calls for some bold nails. We rounded up some of the best modern nail trends that will get you ready to celebrate 2020 in style.

Sparkly Accent Nails

A number of years ago people started doing one accent nail, usually the ring finger, but the trend has evolved over time. Now we're seeing manicures with two (or more) accent nails. Nail artist Gianna Campisi uses Ella + Mila's chemical & cruelty-free nail polish to create an asymmetrical french style tip with a touch of glitter on the ring finger and pinky for the perfect party look.

Mesmerizing Metallics

Channel your inner rockstar and go for a metallic shade that will glisten and gleam all night long. Pick a stunning gunmetal like this Lights Lacquer shade for a fun spin on your traditional black polish. The metallic finish pairs perfectly with silver colored dresses, shoes or accessories.

Minimalistic Gold

Go minimal but have fun with gold accent lines on your nails for a cool twist on the french manicure. LA-based celebrity nail artist Belinda Townsend, who's clients include Halsey, Tess Holiday, and Vanessa Hudgens, gave us the inside scoop on her favorite NYE nail trends: "I think 2020 will be the year for shorter clean nails, minimal designs and lots of negative space."

The New Wave

Nail Artist Jessica Washick uses Orly's vegan and cruelty free polishes to create these funky multicolored waves. Keep this trend modern by opting for a nude base color and sticking to only 2-3 colors for the wave detail.

DIY Nails

Don't have time to make it to the nail salon? Don't fret. Press-ons and gel strips like these from Dashing Diva have come a long way. You'll be surprised how easy these are to apply and how amazing they look. The best part? No dry time!

Multi-colored Gradient

This nail trend has been everywhere over the past few months. The multi-colored mani looks best when you stick to the same color family, and it goes from light to dark or vice versa. This is a great option for anyone who has a hard time picking just ONE color.

Half & Half

Turn heads with this ultra chic half-polished, half-naked look. Added bonus: Nail Artist Betina Goldstein shows you exactly how to do it in this handy tutorial. You can experiment with different colors but we think it looks best with darker shades providing a noticeable contrast.

Party Animal

We know leopard print is huge right now, so it shouldn't come to a surprise that people are experimenting with animal print nails. Pair your favorite leopard print belt or booties with these nails on new years for a fashion forward statement.

Elegant White

This is another spin on the classic French manicure, but this version is more of an asymmetrical arch that dips into the sides of your nail beds. This is a good way to go for anyone attending a black tie affair but still wants some flare.
