ABS-CBN denies being unfair to PNP

21 Nov – ABS-CBN has recently released a statement in response to claims made by the Philippine National Police (PNP) that the show "FPJ's Ang Probinsyano" depicted an unfair portrayal of police officers.

As reported on PEP, back on 14 November, PNP Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde expressed frustration about the depiction of a fictional PNP Chief (played by Soliman Cruz) colluding with a corrupt politician (played by Edu Manzano), saying that it's unfair for the show to portray something that doesn't really happen in the organisation.

Following the criticism from Albayalde, ABS-CBN's Head of Integrated Corporate Communications Kane Errol Ochoa released a short statement, which read, "FPJ's Ang Probinsyano assures the Philippine National Police (PNP) that the characters, places, and incidents in the program are purely fictitious as stated in the disclaimer aired at the start of the show every night. There is no intention to smear the reputation of any organisation or portray any person in a negative light.

"The program has also portrayed its main character, Cardo, as a hardworking police officer dedicated to saving lives and serving his fellowmen. As in the past years, 'FPJAP' has highlighted that good shall always triumph over evil and has shared valuable lessons and family values that have resonated with viewers."
