Aaron Yan dropped from mainland show due to Facebook rant?

16 Apr – Rumour has it that Taiwanese singer Aaron Yan has been dropped from the judging panel of the upcoming reality show, "We Are Young 2020".

As reported on NetEase, Aaron's removal reportedly had something to do with his previous Facebook post, after he criticised WHO director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who claimed to have been subjected to racist comments and death threats with many of them supposedly coming from Taiwan.

This is after WHO was accused of excluding Taiwan from participating in its organisation and other international organisations due to its conflicting relationship with China, despite Taiwan's success in curbing the spread of COVID-19 in the island.

In response to Ghebreyesus' accusation, Aaron took to Facebook and wrote, "Despite how the world is suffering from your misguidance, hundreds of millions infected, tens of thousands died, the losses financially worldwide, medical system overloaded, I'm surprised that you have the nerve addressing your own personal [expletive] on an international organization conference."

"Why won't you just suck it up and shut the [expletive] up and do your job!" he added.

He also responded to comments in the post saying that he was referring to the WHO leader using such a platform to express his grievances, and expressed his apology for being emotional about the situation.

However, his comments seemed to have not sat well with mainland netizens, who firmly in support of Ghebreyesus and believed that Aaron was showing his support for Taiwan independence.

Reportedly, the post had also cost him his job, after the said reality show allegedly dropped him from its list of judges.
