Ever wondered what ‘Twister’ would be like if it starred Gerard Butler?

Well wonder no longer…

Several new teaser trailers have appeared online for ‘Geostorm’ – the upcoming natural disaster movie starring Gerard Butler as a satellite designer who’s trying to save the world from a massive storm which has been caused by climate-controlling satellites.

Oh, the irony.

But wait! It’s not all twisters and high winds – there’s even a spot of lava too, just in case viewers would have rather been watching ‘Dante’s Peak’. See, it’s got the whole range of geology-based disasters in one film.

And in a really odd twist, as one man is forced to take a trip to space to try and sort out this colossal mess, his estranged brother unravels a plot to assassinate the president. Because why not throw a dose of political intrigue and ‘24’ style action into the mix.

But is it going to be any good?

Well… perhaps if you’re into this sort of thing.

I’ll be honest – I couldn’t be less excited about ‘Geostorm’ even if each ticket came with a guaranteed dose of cholera. It looks like another standard disaster flick, albeit with a weird action-thriller twist. But after the shambolic ‘2012’ I’m just not sure I can handle another disaster-filled romp while a vaguely-scientific kind of guy tries to save the world from impending doom… even if it is a bit different to all the others.

Still, if you’re into depressing, natural disaster-based movies, I’m sure there’s plenty of wind and rain and even a spot of running away from lava to be seen. And despite a distinct lack of Gerard Butler in the new teasers, he’s definitely in there, too.

Somewhere.

‘Geostorm’ stars Gerard Butler alongside Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish, Ed Harris and Andy Garcia.

Dean Devlin directs, based on a script he co-wrote with Kieran and Michelle Mulroney.

‘Geostorm’ heads to cinemas on 20 October 2017.
