Nine-year-old Ziya Patel spent six years growing her hair before she chopped off 24 inches of it. But she’s not stressing about her shorter cut because all that hair is going to a good cause. The Jackson Township, Ohio, kid took her knee-length tresses to Trendsetters Hair Design so she could donate her shorn strands to Locks of Love.

Patel is no stranger to chopping off her hair for a good cause. According to Inde Online, she donated 10 inches to the charity at the tender age of 3. And clearly this youngster hasn’t lost her charitable nature since then. “I wanted to make wigs for the kids who have cancer,” Patel said. She mentions that she has every intention of growing out her hair for the cause again and hopes to donate more. In fact, she and her older sister, Tihi, are competing to see how much they can give at once.

Locks of Love takes donations of 10 inches or more, so Patel’s offering definitely goes above and beyond. We can’t wait to see how much hair she donates next. But if her six-year hair growing marathon is any indication, we’re going to have to wait quite a while before we find out.
