9 Things We Love About Singapore’s First Hello Kitty Cafe
A themed cafe with photogenic interiors and tasty food
By Samantha Francis
Singapore is finally getting her own Hello Kitty cafe in the form of Hello Kitty Orchid Garden and we’re floored by how beautiful it is. First of all, we’re pleased to report that the cafe isn’t drenched in shades of pink or replete with kitschy Hello Kitty figurines at every turn.
Taking inspiration from Singapore’s reputation as a blooming Garden City, the cafe features lush greenery and hanging rows of orchid flowers. The monochrome and colonial style interior comes with subtle and elegant touches of Kitty mania — bow imprints on wooden chairs, life sized kitties at dedicated photo corners and more.
To put it simply, this is a cafe we’re proud to show visiting tourists — considering it’s situated at Changi Airport.
1. You get to sit right next to Hello Kitty
Here’s one of the dedicated photo corners in the cafe, featuring a life sized kitty. P.S. This is the only Hello Kitty Cafe in the whole world to feature kitties with not just one, but two pretty bows!
2. And take your #ootds with her
If a seated Hello Kitty doesn’t pique your fancy, how about a standing one? All the better for you to pose with!
3. This huggable, limited edition Hello Kitty
Don’t leave the cafe without bagging one of these customised Hello Kitty plush toys ($49.90), available only at Singapore’s Hello Kitty Orchid Garden. We’re loving her polka dot dress and striped bow — in patriotic colours to boot.

4. An extensive retail corner
Even if plush toys aren’t to your liking, you’ll find plenty of memento at the cafe’s retail corner. Singapore-exclusive merchandise, such as custom Hello Kitty-inspired tea blends, grow-it-yourself plant kits, postcards and tea cups, will be launched in stages.
5. All-day breakfast sets
Whether you’re catching a red eyed flight or not, Hello Kitty Cafe offers a hearty selection of all-day breakfast items that will keep you well satiated. Highlights include the Big Breakfast Surprise ($18.50), which consists of creamy scrambled eggs, smoked duck slices, sautéed shiitake mushrooms and crispy Kitty waffles embedded with melted cheese.
6. Special soft serve
Probably the only Hello Kitty Cafe with its own soft serve machine, Hello Kitty Orchid Garden serves cups of tangy and smooth soft serve with various toppings. Not only is the presentation adorable, each mouthful of soft serve left us wanting more.
7. Beautiful orchids everywhere
It’s not called the Hello Kitty Orchid Garden for nothing — lush and opulent blooms in purple and cream can be found all around the cafe. It is meant to emulate Singapore’s ‘garden city’ vibe, fusing inspiration from the national flower with Hello Kitty’s signature kawaii flair.
8. This cake
Helmed by the same guys behind Swensen’s, you can be sure Hello Kitty Orchid Garden doesn’t fall into the trap of serving adorable food that unfortunately tastes terrible. Case in point: This light and spongy Chocolate Caramelised Orange Tea Cake with a subtle orange fragrance, which contrasts nicely with its crunchy chocolate shell.

9. These lovebird seats
Bound to be the hottest seats in the house, these hanging chairs are also truly comfy. Don’t say we didn’t warn you, these may rock you gently to sleep — especially if your date isn’t too interesting.
