Throughout the 20 years of Zouk’s existence, many of us would never have imagined a large group of senior citizens having a good time at our very own iconic nightclub.

Well, that actually happened two days ago (21 Feb) when the club organised a Chinese New Year reunion lunch for 80 senior citizens from Tiong Bahru’s Befriender Service (TBBS).

For those unaware of the befriender service, it’s available across Singapore to help senior citizens who are at risk of social isolation. Volunteers, also known as befrienders, will reach out to seniors during weekly home visits to provide social and psycho-emotional support.

Tanjong Pagar GRC’s Member of Parliament Indranee Rajah was also there to grace the inaugural occasion.

While it wasn’t quite the rave party we had imagined, the photos shared by Zouk showed that it was joyous occasion nonetheless.

With scrumptious-looking foods whipped up by Zouk-owned restaurant and bar Red Tail, the seniors also enjoyed performances by Zouk’s staff and TBBS members, including an item by restaurant group Damiao Dining called “Bian Lian”, which showcased the art of mask changing.

The club also donated $50,000 to TBBS’s annual meal welfare allowance.
