6 haunted dolls that exist right here in sunny Singapore
You might think that haunted dolls (or toys, for that matter) only exist far far away, and certainly not in Singapore. You always see television shows or movies about them, but it’s not like Singapore would have a haunted doll right? If we did, you can bet that it’ll be Instagrammed so much that it’d have its own hashtag.
Guess what? There isn’t just one haunted doll in Singapore. There are six.
Finding haunted dolls is like going on a real-life Pokemon Go raid, so here are six haunted dolls in Singapore that you can go after. Be sure to bring plenty of friends with you too…
1. Jurong West’s cigarette-smoking demon doll

Sometime in 2014, some Jurong Westies reported seeing a demonic doll at the void deck. Like every good ghost story, there’s only a blurry picture to accompany it – but they also said that it was holding a cigarette.
The black doll had horns and tufts of hair. It’s probably not a child’s toy – if it were, I’d be more afraid of the child than the doll. If it’s not a child’s toy, then what could it be? What sort of person would keep such a doll? And why would it hold a cigarette?
The scariest part? Nobody has reported seeing it again, which means…
2. Hougang blindfolded doll

Again, in 2014, a doll was found propped up against a tree.

With Arabic words written on it.
With no explanation why.
If it were me, I would have fled in the other direction. But the brave Redditor who saw it even decided to take a picture before, well, the rest of Singapore came and took pictures and removed the blindfold.
Let’s just hope that we haven’t unleashed some unspeakable evil upon the world.
3. Pulau Ubin Barbie

It is said that in World War I, the British captured a German couple in Singapore on suspicions of espionage. Their daughter managed to escape, but she fell off a cliff and died. So a shrine was erected in her memory on Pulau Ubin by the islanders there.
It gets creepier.
In around 2007, a man from Pulau Ubin had the same dream three consecutive nights in a row. In his dream, a white girl kept leading him to a particular Barbie doll in a toy store. He eventually went to that particular toy store and found the Barbie doll that he had seen in his dream. He bought it and then placed it at the little girl’s shrine.
And as far as anyone knows, it’s still there.
4. Talking Furby dolls

There’s this tale about an NUS hostelite who had a Furby doll. One night, she woke up to the sound of people talking – and found her Furby doll talking by itself. Furby dolls talk, but only when you start talking first.
She was so freaked out that she threw away the doll, only to find it back in her room the next day.
I’m not sure what happened next, but I’d have left the hostel and NUS and never come back.
5. Possessed Teletubby Dolls

When the Teletubby rage engulfed the world, so did their toys. Dolls, books, magazines – you name it, the Teletubbies were on it.
Until some kids started seeing Teletubby dolls walk and talk on their own.
If it were one child it would be okay, but for so many kids to say that all at the same time, independently, is cause for concern. A lot of concern.
6. Annabelle at Vivocity
You know that movie, Annabelle? The one where the scary looking doll ends being a lot scarier than it looks?
The doll is at Vivocity. It’s kept under lock and key in a glass case, but still.
We’re not sure if a mere glass case can hold her since the picture above shows her freely roaming the halls of Golden Village at Vivocity though…

In this terrifying origin story, we learn how Annabelle came to be. Annabelle: Creation shows us how the unstoppable doll was created. If your name happens to be Annabelle, that’s rather unfortunate. But if not, this movie will make you afraid to even come near any vaguely humanoid-shaped toy.
