Just like the struggles of Queen Elizabeth II, this series portrays the struggles of Catherine. She was one of the longest-ruling female leaders throughout the mid to late 1700s.
Gentleman Jack – Gentleman Jack, dives into the pressure and struggles of LGBTQ icon Anne Lister played by Suranne Jones in the conservative society of the 1800s. Based on the diaries of Lister, the series gives a very personal insight into lesbian businesswoman’s world.
The Tudors – The historical drama fiction series dives into the history of the British monarchy. It shows the early ruling years of King Henry VIII. Although it focuses on the male side of the story it takes a look at Henry’s famous marriages to historical female figures like Catherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn.
The White Queen
The White Queen – Adapted from the book series by Philippa Gregory named, ‘The Cousin’s War’, BBC One’s An English civil war between the Lancaster and York families are depicted in “The White Queen,” which follows three ladies as they vie for power.
The Great – The fictional drama uses a lighter tone and a satirical take about Russian regality. The show depicts the fate of the country on the line while Catherine the Great (Elle Fanning) schemes to kill her husband, Emperor Peter III.
