"Teeth" is the second single released from the band's upcoming fourth studio album.
The bass-heavy song sees 5 Seconds of Summer sinking deeper into the industrial pop sounds they began to explore in their upcoming album's first single, "Easier."
It notably features guest collaborator Tom Morello, the guitarist of American rock band Rage Against The Machine.
"Teeth" comes with a dark music video, directed by French filmmaker Thibaut Duverneix, in which the band is subjected to a bizarre lab experiment.
They are given a mysterious sedative that propels them into their own personal hellscape, from which they desperately try to escape.
"Fight so dirty, but your love so sweet/ Talk so pretty, but your heart got teeth/ Late night devil, put your hands on me/ And never, never, never ever let go," the band sings in the chorus over riffs from Morello.
In a recent interview with Billboard's Pop Shop Podcast, bassist Calum Hood detailed the band's newfound style.
"With 'Teeth,' I knew it was something that we hadn't discovered yet within the band. It reminds me of like -- as weird as it sounds -- AC/DC in terms of the pulse and energy. It's really a special thing for me because it means that we're almost connecting with the roots of the band in a modernistic way," he said.
"Teeth" will appear on 5 Seconds of Summer's forthcoming yet-untitled album, which will follow 2018's "Youngblood." Details about the project are scarce to this date.
The single will also be featured on the soundtrack for "13 Reasons Why," set for release on August 23.
This fall, the band will go on tour with the Chainsmokers across North America, kicking off on September 25 in Cincinnati, Ohio. For tickets and additional information, check the official website of 5 Seconds of Summer.
