4 quiet islands near Singapore that are perfect for a bachelor/bachelorette trip

Just got engaged? Congratulations!

Don’t start planning the wedding just yet, that can always wait. Chances are your parents or in-laws will want to get involved somehow and it will turn into everyone else’s special day except yours. So why not leave the stress up to them and focus on the fun part of being engaged – the bachelor or bachelorette trip?

In recent days, bachelor and bachelorette nights have turned from just one night of partying as singles into a few days of mischief in a totally foreign place. Ever watch The Hangover movie series? Well, you don’t have to mimic that, but many brides and grooms will want to enjoy a nice trip with their friends before entering their marriage.

So if you’re considering doing a trip with the boys/girls, here are 4 islands near Singapore for your bachelor/bachelorette trip!

1. Pulau Dayang, Malaysia

This is possibly one of the closest, underrated islands near Singapore that you can consider hosting your bridesmaids or groomsmen. As it is only a short bus ride and ferry transfer away from Singapore, it is easy to get to and won’t cost your whole group of friends a bomb. If your boys or girls love scuba diving, then this will be a total dream for them to visit too. Its pristine beaches will also make for a perfect backdrop to take plenty of photos. And here’s a little bonus: whale sharks have been spotted here!

2. Koh Kradan, Thailand

Thailand is home to so many islands – some of them are already overpopulated with tourists, like Phuket, Koh Samui and the like. But there are still some quiet, unexplored islands that you can bring your group of friends to if that’s your scene. Koh Kradan is the kind of island that every nature lover will fall in love with at first sight. The coral reef is virtually untouched and you can kayak around the whole island in just three hours! Who says bachelor/bachelorette trips have to be about drinking and misdemeanour?

3. Phu Quoc, Vietnam

Pooh Kwok? Foo Kok? How do you pronounce this Vietnamese island’s name? While the right pronunciation is in fact “foo kwok”, you can have a good time with your friends trying to figure out how to say it right without giggling. Its main town is Duong Dong… which probably doesn’t help. But doesn’t this just sound like the perfect place to hold a bachelor or bachelorette trip? We haven’t even mentioned the best part yet – it is dubbed the Maldives of Southeast Asia. With good reason too! The clear azure waters will give your Instagram feed plenty of enviable content for weeks to come.

4. Komodo Island, Indonesia

Forget about the busy Bali or increasingly popular Lombok – those trips can be saved for another time! Where you want to explore with your buddies is Komodo Island. Yes, it is named after the komodo dragon, of which inhabit the island freely. The island offers activities such as snorkelling and diving but you may want to stay a safe distance away from the largest monitor lizard that calls this island its home.
