4 Idol Actors Who Debuted Through Survival Programs

2PM’s Taecyeon

Did you know that idol groups 2AM and 2PM were birthed from the idol survival program ‘Hot Blood’? 2AM and 2PM were often called One Day with 2AM taking on a ballad style and 2PM with a dance concept. Taecyeon was chosen as one of the 7 members to be part of 2PM and debuted in 2009. He starred in his first drama ‘Cinderella Man’ in 2010.

Beast’s Doojoon

Doojoon was also part of the 13 member survival program Hot Blood but was unfortunately eliminated. Lucky for the fans, he made his debut shortly in 2009 with Cube Entertainment and became the leader of Beast. He rose to fame with his charismatic image and made his acting debut as a recurring character in sitcoms.

VIXX’s Hongbin

Even though he was known for his flower boy looks during his days in MyDol, an idol survival program, the panel was skeptical about adding him into VIXX due to his lack of talent. However, he made the cut as a vocalist and eventually ventured into acting with Glorious Day. He took on his first lead role in the idol drama Moorim School with Lee Hyun Woo.

Big Bang’s Seungri

Behind the success of top K-pop band Big Bang are tears and sweat that was recorded in the Big Bang Documentary survival program. With the original plan to debut 4 members, Seungri was left out of the final four but was recruited back at the last minute when he impressed Yang Hyun Suk with a ballad. Seungri is currently active in Korea and also in Japan and China.
