3 New Star Wars 7 Planets Revealed

The galaxy far, far away just got a little larger… as ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ introduces another three new planets.

The folks at Empire Magazine have revealed the names of three new planets in the ‘Star Wars’ universe… and we might even have some scant details about them.

“An exclusive Lucasfilm star map [in Empire Magazine] reveals the name and location of three new planets in the Star Wars universe,” they explain. “Joining Tatooine, Endor, Naboo and the already-revealed desert planet of Jakku are Takodana, D'Qar and Hosnian Prime.”

But what do we know so far?

D’Qar

The planet of D’Qar could be far more important to the Resistance than anywhere else in the galaxy… as it’s said to be the home of a Resistance base.

Essentially, it sounds as though D’Qar will play a similar role to Echo Base on Hoth in ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ or the Rebel Base at Yavin IV. And wit’s here that we find Resistance leader, General Leia Organa – or is it Leia Solo by now?

Ether way, D’Qar was first mentioned in the ‘Star Wars’ novel, ‘Lost Stars’.

“We should list this planet as a potential base in the future. The Empire’s not interested, not much space lane traffic in this area, plus there’s plenty of water.”

Takodana

Unfortunately, we’re yet to find out any concrete details about this mysterious planet… except that an upcoming LEGO set reveals it as the site of a major battle.

It’s also listed on Wookiepedia as the home of a group of unallied scoundrels and their protocol droid ME-8D9. And the official ‘Star Wars’ databank gives us an even better idea of what might go down on Takodana.

“ME-8D9: Known as Emmie by the unallied scoundrels on Takodana, ME-8D9 is a protocol droid that is often called upon to translate less-than-legal deals.”

Will Han Solo, Finn and Rey have to fight their way out after a deal goes bad?

Hosnian Prime

Unfortunately, this one’s a complete unknown – what happens on Hosnian Prime stays on Hosnian Prime… at least, for now.

But considering that D’Qar is likely to be the main Resistance base, could we see a large First Order presence on Hosnian Prime?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ heads to cinemas on 17 December 2015.
