The 2024 Emmys were finally held Monday night at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The awards, which are traditionally held in September, were technically considered the 2023 Emmys but the ceremony was postponed due to the SAG-AFTRA and The Writers Guild of America strike that put all of Hollywood to a halt last year.
After months of waiting, the nominees from some of television's most popular shows descended upon the red carpet to celebrate in their finest red carpet apparel. While there were a few standout looks from TV's A-list, there were some fashion flops that missed the mark entirely.
Our team of editors carefully surveyed the red carpet and narrowed down the playing field to a list of contenders for best and worst dressed and put it to a vote.
Yahoo Canada readers have spoken, and the results may surprise you.
BEST: Keri Russell
Yahoo Canada readers dubbed Keri Russell's black Alexander Vauthier look the best dressed of the night. "The Diplomat" star earned 36 per cent of reader votes for her black column gown with velvet waistband that featured a dramatic, billowing train. The 47-year-old's sleek bun and statement earrings made the look a sophisticated standout of the night.
RUNNER-UP: Sarah Snook
Sarah Snook may have left with an award, but she was a runner up in the race for best dressed, earning 22 per cent of reader votes.
The "Succession" star took home her first Emmy for Lead Actress in a Drama Series in a show-stopping red Vivienne Westwood ballgown. The Australian actress accessorized her gown with diamond and emerald Cartier necklace and earrings worth a reported $112,000 USD ($150,000 CAD).
WORST: Kathryn Hahn
The people have spoken — and Kathryn Hahn was a clear winner of the "worst dressed" title according to Yahoo Canada readers. The "Tiny Beautiful Things" actress, who will star in the upcoming Marvel series "Agatha: Darkhold Diaries" earned 44 per cent of reader votes in the worst dressed poll.
Hahn's Christian Dior look featured a textured skirt with feathers and floral embellishments and a sheer blouse with Colonel Sanders-style bowtie. The high fashion look failed to transition to the runway, but we're hoping there are brighter red carpet days ahead for this fan favourite actress.
RUNNER-UP: Abby Elliott
"The Bear" star Abby Elliott may have only earned 18 per cent of reader votes, but her red Alexander McQueen dress was not a hit with Yahoo Canada readers.
While the colour and shape of the dress worked for Elliott, the ill-fitting strapless gown made the look feel as though it needed a little love from a tailor.
