Why settle for a single dish when you can enjoy a variety of different types of food? Set dinners are the perfect way to experience an array of flavours, from salty to sweet to savoury, all in one sitting.

Regardless of whether you seek a lovely meal for a date night out, a suitable spot for a business dinner, or if you’re just in search of a spot to savour some delicious food, here are 10 restaurants in Singapore that offer the best set dinners.

1. SKAI

At SKAI, you can look forward to experiencing a sky-high dinner on the 70th floor of Swissôtel The Stamford, with a gorgeous view overlooking Marina Bay. Their 4 Course Set Menu costs S$168++ per pax, with a Wine Flight option for an additional S$88++ per pax.

The first dish, Lobster with Quinoa, Orange and Salsa Verde, combines bright and zesty flavours with the light taste and tender texture of lobster, acting as the perfect appetiser for the meal.

The intermediate dish, Stuffed Portobello with Pork, Ginger, Bacon Mayo and Katsuobushi, introduced strong Asian influences. The soft and chewy portobello mushroom base, combined with the meaty pork, savoury mayo and umami katsuobushi, reminded me of an elevated version of xiao long bao, and made for yet another excellent dish.

Steak lovers will not be disappointed by the main dish, the Wylarah Wagyu with Heirloom Beetroot, Maitake and Cabernet Sauvignon Red Wine. I ordered my steak with a medium rare doneness, and was pleased with the incredibly rich and tender beef. The maitake mushroom was crispy and nicely salted, and the Cabernet Sauvignon red wine jus added an extra depth of flavour to the Wagyu.

Finally, end off on a sweet note with Blueberry Pie with Almond, Strawberry Sorbet and Vanilla. The crunchy tart base was fragrant and buttery, with a sweet blueberry filling. The strawberry sorbet was smooth and light, and was a delight to enjoy with the warm pie.

With the incredible dishes, lovely atmosphere and breathtaking view, SKAI is a place that I would certainly return to in the future.

Start your meal with one of Taratara Brasserie’s three entrées: Lobster Bisque Soup, Tuna Carpaccio with Rocket Arugula, Basil, Capers & Citrus Dressing, or Pan-Seared Duck Foie Gras with Dark Cherries

The Lobster Bisque Soup was salty with savoury undertones, while the Pan-Seared Duck Foie Gras with Dark Cherries was incredibly rich and smooth, complemented well by the sweet cherries.

For your main dish, select from Pancetta-Wrapped Scallops with Saffron & Herb Risotto, Beef Tenderloin topped with Foie Gras and Truffle Sauce, or Duck Confit & Sarladaise Potatoes

The Beef Tenderloin topped with Foie Gras and Truffle Sauce was thick and chewy, yet not tough to bite through. It had a lovely meaty flavour and the steak and potatoes soaked up the truffle sauce nicely. The Duck Confit & Sarladaise Potatoes, on the other hand, had a delightfully crispy exterior, while the duck meat was tender and fell off the bone easily.

Finally, end off with a choice of either a Dark and Praline Chocolate Tart with Raspberry Sorbet, or choose a savoury option by going for the Cheese Platter of 3 Kinds

The Dark and Praline Chocolate Tart was incredibly rich and thick with a melt-in-the-mouth tart base, while the Raspberry Sorbet was tangy and balanced out the richness of the chocolate. As for the cheese platter, each of the three different cheeses provided rich, salty and creamy textures that were utterly satisfying.

With the variety of flavours and choices, dinner at Taratara Brasserie was truly exciting.

Start your meal with the LeVeL33 Signature Raw & Chilled Seafood Platter, which consists of freshly shucked oysters, Hokkaido scallop sashimi, kingfish sashimi, cold smoked salmon, amaebi prawn sashimi, poached local tiger prawn, fremantle octopus, Yarra Valley salmon roe, crab rillette, housemade beer condiments, beer blinis, citrus and rye bread.

The next course, the Heirloom Tomato, absolutely blew me away with its complex flavours and textures.

Containing cherry tomatoes, stracciatella cheese, compressed grapes, malt crisps, smoked evo, caviar and a house-made balsamic and stout glaze, every bite was pure bliss. As someone who typically dislikes tomatoes, I would return to LeVeL33 just for this dish again.

Next, the Local Slipper Lobster Bisque was fresh with a rich seafood aroma, made with house-made lobster shell stock and cooked with LeVeL33’s Blond Lager beer, white wine, cream, butter, tomatoes, tomato paste, shallots and garlic.

For the main course, the Free-range NZ Maimoa Lamb Rack comes with a beer malt smoked and charcoal grilled lamb rack, roasted eggplant, barley tabbouleh, verde tahini and herbs.

The main course that I opted for was the In-House Koji Aged Westholme Wagyu Tri-Tip, which is aged for 14 days and sous vide for 1.5 hours before grilling. Served with garlic, stout and red wine jus, a Cafe de Paris butter, house-made chimichurri and salad, I was once again impressed by the rich flavours and amazing textures of the Wagyu steak and sides.

End your meal with two dessert dishes. Melon Granita is made with rock melon that is pureed and mixed with sugar and lime juice before being hand-scratched with a fork and topped with beer jelly made from LeVeL33’s IPA and konnyaku gelatin.

Finally, the Filipino-inspired IPA Créme Caramel, which came with a side of berry compote, was incredibly silky and luscious with a rich custard flavour, making it the perfect way to end my unforgettable meal at LeVeL33.
