The 15 Best Slides for Men That Are Comfortable and Stylish

Slides are an extremely important part of a person’s shoe collection, if for nothing else other than their absolute ease of wear. They’re perfect for slipping on to take out the garbage or the dog for a quick walk. And even when it’s cold out, it’s easy to pair them with socks for extra warmth.

That said, although slides are quite convenient, they aren’t the kind of shoe you want to be wearing for long stretches of time, since they don’t typically offer the best underfoot support (compared to, for example, your favorite walking shoes or most comfortable sneakers). Still, the best slides for men do exist and get the job done better than other styles. You just have to know what to look for.

The different types of slide sandals for men

When you first think about slides, those basic shower shoes you throw in your workout bag or wear to the pool might come to mind. These can be ideal if you’re looking for a cheap option, but there are also sturdier men’s slide sandals with arch support and orthotic-like cushioning that better promote foot health — making them suitable not only for the gym but beyond.

Either way, most slides have one thick strap across, or two, like a Birkenstock. Some even challenge what the idea of a strap is altogether.

Slide fabrics differ, too. You can shop rubber and waterproof styles that are good for poolside activities, ones that are heavy on foam and other fancier silhouettes made with high-quality leathers for wearing out and about.

Speaking of fashion-forward styles, flashy slides done in bright colors and with big designer logos have been popular over the past few years. These work, if they’re your vibe — but keep in mind they tend to prioritize aesthetics over function when it comes to technical foot support.

How to find the most comfortable slides for men

Reserve cheap shower slides for the aforementioned occasions, says Mark Mendeszoon, a podiatrist and foot and ankle surgeon based in Ohio. For everything else, go for something better.

Look for styles that have more arch support and enough width,” says Mendeszoon, who stresses that you want your foot to sit comfortably inside the shoe. “They should feel soft yet supportive underfoot.”

“And, don’t wear them all day long,” he adds. “They’re for recovery, for vacation, near water. If you’re done working out and go to change, that’s fine.”

The strap on your slides should also offer enough support that your toes don’t crunch up in order to keep the shoes on with every step.

Considering all this, we rounded up the 15 best and most comfortable slides for men to slip into this season. Keep reading to discover them.
